June 23 – “Poor indeed is the man who cannot enjoy the simple things of life.”
The members of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect honored the men of the church on Father's Day with a box of candy. Fred Floyd honored the congregation with special music in honor of Father's Day. This was a real treat.
Mrs. Judy Bolt of the Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle honored the fathers on Father's Day by passing our candy to them, uncles were also honored.
Abby Kelsey is now home following her double lung transplant – what good news. Everyone is praying for her steady improvement. Tuesday there was a Pizza Party given by Carl and Sadie Kelsey for Abby Kelsey, Nick Kelsey and Justin Chilton.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl (Sadie) Kelsey and grandson, Justin Chilton traveled to Newport News on Saturday to visit Carl's sister and her husband, Nancy Kelsey Williams and Sonny Williams. They attended Nancy and Sonny's grandson, Matthew Jenson graduation from high school. Sunday they all traveled to Virginia Beach to visit their sister, Rebecca Kelsey Newman. Rebecca's daughter and husband, Pam and George Michael met them for lunch on Sunday.
John Gager is slowly improving following his tumble from a ladder in which he broke some bones. He is in need of your prayers.
Brianna, Charles and Christina Smith of Keysville, spent last Wednesday night with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith (Pat). They attended the Bible study held at Calvary Chapel, then on Thursday their grandmother took them bowling.
Mrs. Pat Smith met with her college roommate, Mrs. Carolyn Boyd, for lunch in Appomattox last Friday.
On Monday evening Mr. and Mrs. John (Rita) Utzinger, Mr. and Mrs. Al (Darlene) Quinlan and Mr. and Mrs. Jeff (Pat) Smith all went out for dinner at Shoguns.
Mr. and Mrs. Don (Betty) Meadows traveled to Richmond last Wednesday where they visited their son in-law, Andy Shotwell; and grandchildren Josh, Zach, and Kate.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton were among the 75 plus taking the night walk on the High Bridge Trail last Wednesday. They were delighted to have their grandson, Sean join them for this walk as well as daughter in-law Mary Jo Stockton.
Mr. and Mrs. John (Nancy) Mottley are happy to have their great-granddaughter, Hannah Thompson from Virginia Beach visiting them until next Tuesday.
Mrs. Peggy Kelsey, Polly Duncan, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas (Lena Rose) Huddleston attended the wedding of Kemper Beasley III to Becky George on Saturday. The wedding took place at the Duke Chapel in Durham, North Carolina.
Mr. and Richard Stockton were honored to have their son, Lon, and grandson, Sean, go with them to the Waterworks Players production of The Nerd last Saturday night. They all enjoyed the production very much.
Mrs. Flora Bolt joined her son, Steve Bolt and her brother, Garland Woodson for lunch at Shoney's on Sunday for Father's Day. They honored Garland for his birthday which was June 20. John Wallace Woodson from Henrico County joined them to celebrate and honor his father, Garland. Joining them later were Brandon Bolt and Mrs. Terri Bolt and Mrs. Ashley Bolt Paquette.
Mrs. Flora Bolt was Father's Day dinner guest of her son Douglas Bolt, his wife Betty Jean and their daughter Stacy.
Family, friends and neighbors are sending special get well wishes to all those who are sick at this time. John Gager, Loren Orange, Abby Kelsey and Judy Jamieson are in need of your special prayers.

Calvary Chapel Farmville will be holding Vacation Bible School from June 27 – July 1. All children ages preschool through age twelve are invited to attend.
Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will fill the pulpit this Sunday.
