“The Nerd” is the upcoming production of The Waterworks Players. The dates of this production are June 10 and 11 and again on the 17 and 18, these are Friday and Saturday nights. If you have not been to a production give it a try and if you have you will not want to miss this one.

Mrs. Peggy Kelsey, Mrs. Kim Shumaker and Debra Sue Shumaker recently attended the open house of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence (Audrey) Ragland in Appomattox.

Mr. and Mrs. Don (Betty) Meadows were among the many guests attending the 90th birthday celebration for John Varner at the Woodlands on Sunday afternoon.

The home of Mrs. Lois Gager was the setting of the annual picnic for the Ruth Adams Garden Club last Wednesday. Mrs. Lois Gager and Mrs. Betty Meadows were the hostesses for the event.

Mr. and Mrs. John (Shirley) Fulcher held a cook-out Memorial Day for their children. Shirley reported most of her children were present and a good time was had by all.

On Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Pat Smith was a luncheon guest in the home of Mrs. Rosie Lapp in Buckingham.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray (Betty) Noblin hosted a cook-out on Sunday afternoon for Wanda Nash and Harold Higgins.

A.J. Southall, age 11, spent Memorial Day at Twin Lake with his mother, Debra Hodges; little brother, Tray, age 3; little sister, Lilly, age 10 months, and stepfather, Neil Hodges. They had a great time ending up with sunburns save the babies who enjoyed the shade of the trees.

A.J. Southall has realized a dream of all boys, with the help of Bill Kearns they have built a go-cart from scratch and the best part it now runs and has brakes.

Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the cookout at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Terri) Bolt May 15 in honor of their daughter, Ashley Bolt Paquette. Ashley graduated from Radford University May 7 with a B.S. in nursing and in psychology. There were about 53 family members present.

Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Terri) Bolt and Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the Birthday Party for Haley Murdock at AJ Skate World in Appomattox May 22. Haley, daughter of Mrs. Nicky Murdock, was nine years old May 20. There were about 17 family and friends present.

Mrs. Flora Bolt visited Mrs. Edna Woodson at Trinity Missions May 30 as well as May 16. Mr. Woodson was visiting his wife. She always enjoy having visitors.

Mrs. Ruth Southall and Mr. Wilfred Hedrick residents of Brookview were visited by Mrs. Flora Bolt May 17.

Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the Memorial Service at the Confederate Cemetery on May 30. This program is sponsored each year by the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Sons of the Confederacy. There was a large crowd and the service to honor our veterans was very impressive.

Family, friends and neighbors are sending special get well wishes to all those who are sick at this time. Abby Kelsey, Alice Kelsey of Lynchburg and Judy Jamieson are in need of your special prayers.

Friends and neighbors are extending their sincere sympathy to the family of Mr. Wilfred Hedrick. Mr. Hedrick died May 28 at the age of 86.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will fill the pulpit this Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. Kemper Beasley III will fill the pulpit at Davis Memorial the first Sunday, June 5.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Road in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
