DYB Minors Tournaments Begin Friday

Dixie Youth Baseball Minors (AAA) Tournaments begin around Southside Virginia this weekend. Three Herald-area teams will participate in two separate tournaments beginning Friday.
Powhatan's Fighting Creek Park (behind the Powhatan YMCA) will host the District IV Tournament this year.
Six teams (Scottsville is not participating in either DYB All-Stars Tournaments this year) will participate in the double-elimination tournament.
Goochland will play Powhatan National beginning at 5 p.m. That game will be followed by Cumberland vs. Buckingham at 7:30 p.m. Meanwhile on a different field at the complex, tournament host Powhatan American will play Amelia beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Seven teams will participate in the District V Minors Tournament that begins on Friday in Charlotte Court House.
Prince Edward Farmville will play Dinwiddie American at 4 p.m. in the first of three games.
At 6 p.m. Blackstone will play Lunenburg, and at 8 p.m., host Charlotte will play Crewe-Burkeville. Dinwiddie National receives the first-day bye, and will begin play on Saturday.
