BURKEVILLE, MAY 3 – Reid Atkins Schneider, 84, of Burkeville, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 in Farmville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter J. Schneider.

She is survived by her sisters, Mary Bates and husband, Pete of Nottoway County, and Shirley Layne and husband, Owen of Richmond; brother, Tom Thurman Atkins of Prince Edward County; 10 nieces and six nephews; special friend, Barbara Wine of Burkeville; and her dog Toby.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Shorter Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in the chapel of the funeral home with interment to follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Burkeville.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Bagby Memorial Baptist Church Burkeville.
