CARTERSVILLE, May 26 – Rebecca “Becky” Farthing Murphy, 94, of Cartersville, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011. She was born April 22, 1917 in Pittsylvania County and was very active in her church, Oakwood United Methodist Church, and in the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by three sons, Robert W. Murphy “Bobby”, Gerald T. Murphy, and Stephen E. Murphy “Steve” and wife, June; daughter-in-law, Linda L. Murphy; sister, Pauline Coleman of Little Plymouth; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert E. Murphy; son, John H. Murphy and Bobby's wife, Helen, and their son, Scott.

A memorial service is planned for Friday, May 27 at 11 a.m. at Oakwood United Methodist Church, 1291 Columbia Rd., Columbia, VA 23038.
