DILLWYN, May 17 – Frances Blanche McCracken, 92, of Dillwyn, died at Heritage Hall Nursing Home on Thursday, May 12, 2011. Born on November 7, 1918 in Queen Anne County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Henry Edgar Cecil and Lula Foster Cecil.
Mrs. McCracken was a homemaker most of her life, but also sat with elderly patients for many years. She moved from Queen Anne, MD, to Dillwyn in1999.
She is survived by a daughter, Doris Whitten and husband, Oscar “Bud” Whitten of Dillwyn; brother, Walter Cecil of Greensboro, MD; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Dyott of Easton, MD; grandson, Jeff Conley of San Diego, CA; two granddaughters, Kay Dyott and Brenda LaBelle of Easton, MD; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Preceding her in death were three husbands, Edward Dyott, Bill Callahan and Fred McCracken, and a stepson, Earl Dyott.
Friends may attend a viewing at Dunkum Funeral Home, Tuesday evening, May 17, from 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at Mulberry Grove Baptist Church, Buckingham, on Wednesday, May 18, beginning with open casket viewing at 10 a.m., funeral service beginning at 11 a.m., with interment in the church cemetery.
Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, is in charge of arrangements.
