Nannie “Nancy” Burton

MARCH 29 – Nannie “Nancy” Hughes Burton, 91, died Friday March 25, 2011 at Southside Community Hospital in Farmville. She had been a resident of Richmond for over 50 years and in recent years a resident of Trinity Mission in Farmville.
Born at Warminster in Nelson County on November 10, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Stewart Hughes and Carrie Maud Cuningham Hughes. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Addison Burton and three brothers, Joseph, James and Edwin and a siste,r Maude and Maude's two children, Jennifer and Drew.
She is survived by a sister, Irene Hughes of Nelson County “Arrington” and a nephew, Joe Hughes of Fluvanna County.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with the Rev. John P. Campbell officiating with interment in the Hughes Family Cemetery at Wingina.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and suggest that memorials take the form of donations to Almost Home Pet Adoption Center, 29 Stagebridge Road, Lovingston, Virginia 22949.
