John M. Jeter

MARCH 1 – John Marshall Jeter was born on June 4, 1937 in Prince Edward County, to the late John H. Jeter and Virginia Patterson Jeter. He passed away Monday, February 21, 2011. He was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Meherrin.
Mr. Jeter was educated in the public schools of Prince Edward County and Baltimore City. He also served in the US Navy.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 53 years, Corlean; daughter, Latasha of Baltimore, MD; three sons, Maurice of Calgary, Alberta (Canada), Monte and Lamancha, both of Baltimore, MD; three sisters, Minnie (Eugene) Josey of Meherrin, Ruth of Gwynn Oak, MD, and Gilda (William) Wilson of Catonsville, MD; four grandchildren, Monte Jeter Jr. and Lasean Robinson of Baltimore, MD, Sydney and Ashley Jeter of Calgary, Alberta (Canada); three nieces, five nephews, a sister-in-law, Margaret Brooks; three special cousins, Charles “Pete” Morton, Hozie Watson, and Matthew Williams, all of Baltimore, MD; a lifetime friend, William Gray; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Monday, February 28, at New Bethel Baptist Church, Meherrin, with interment in the church cemetery. Pastor Haney Thomas Jr., officiated.
Wilson Funeral Home, Keysville, served the family.
