Editor, The Herald:

On behalf of my family, I would like to thank the Arvonia, Dillwyn, and Glenmore Fire Departments for their response to a fire at my property on Monday, February 14th in the late afternoon. Without the immediate response from the Arvonia Units, my residence could have been in jeopardy. Because of the high winds, this was a quick spreading fire.

A special thank-you goes out to the lady who called in the alarm, came to the door and notified me.

Many thanks to each individual who was here, fought the fire, provided moral support and called.

I thank God that we live where there are so many civic-minded individuals who give their time for others.
