CREWE, Jan. 25 – Alice Verser Atkinson, 86, of Crewe, passed away Friday, January 21, 2011. She was a member of Crewe United Methodist Church. She was devoted to her church and spent countless hours caring for her family and others.

Mrs. Atkinson is survived by her husband, John T. Atkinson; two sisters, Edna Gills and Georgia Bates; two sons, John Thomas Atkinson Jr. and Robert Clarke Atkinson; eight grandchildren; numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Clarke and Leola Wilkie Verser, two brothers, George and Warriner “Doc” Verser, and two sisters, Frances Mayton and Lois Branch.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 23, at the Chapel of Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home, with interment in Crewe Cemetery.

Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home, Crewe, was in charge of arrangements.
