Charles “Ducky” Cook 79

BUCKINGHAM, Dec. 21 – Charles Arthur (Ducky) Cook, of Buckingham, passed away quietly at his home Saturday, December 18, 2010, surrounded by family and friends. He was born January 12, 1931.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. Mr. Cook served in the Korean War and retired from the local 540 Plumbers and Steamfitters of Newport News.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jurlean (Jerri) Dunlow Rhea Cook of Dillwyn; two sons, Charles Douglas (Nancy) Cook and Dennis Dean (Angie) Cook of Smithfield; sisters, Marion Reese of Mathews and Joyce Fitzgerald of Newport News; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Allen Cook, brother, George E. Cook Jr., father, George E. Cook Sr., and mother, Rever C. Rowe Cook.

Funeral services and interment were held Tuesday, December 21, at New Store Presbyterian Church, Dillwyn, with the Rev. Quincy Worthington from New Store Presbyterian Church and Chaplin Alvin M. Downs from the Veterans Hospital officiating.

Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, served the family.
