CUMBERLAND – The County's Board of Supervisors will hold a special called meeting on Tuesday, November 30 in the Circuit Courtroom. The main purpose of the meeting is to hold two public hearings and consider action concerning a proposed code amendment and a conditional use permit that was submitted by Ag Renewable Resources LLC.
The proposed code amendment, if adopted, would allow “manufacture of fertilizer” as a conditional use in M-1, industrial zoning district.
The conditional use permit request was submitted to the County by the renewable energy company and is running concurrently with the code amendment request.
Ag Renewable Resources is looking to locate to the newly rezoned business park property on Poorhouse Road and recently requested the conditional use permit so that the facility could potentially generate electricity and manufacture fertilizer. The fertilizer would be created by sending, mainly, poultry waste through a thermophilic anaerobic digester.
According to the meeting notice, the Board is also set to enter into closed session at 6 p.m. for consultation with legal counsel pertaining to pending litigation “where such consultation or briefing in an open meeting would adversely affect the negotiating or litigating posture of the public body re: William Bruce” and for consultation with legal counsel regarding “specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal advice by such counsel.”
The Board is scheduled to reconvene in open session at 7 p.m. to hold the two public hearings.
