SOUTH BOSTON, Nov. 18 – Robert Smith Chaney, 75, of South Boston, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at his home. He was born in Farmville on November 12, 1935, the son of the late John Robert Chaney and Ethel Norton Chaney and was married to Norma Epps Chaney, who survives.

Mr. Chaney was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Epps Chaney; two sons, Rodney L. Chaney and wife, Gayle of Hillsborough, NC and Gary Scott Chaney and wife, Anne of Myrtle Beach, SC; six grandchildren; one sister, Betty Chaney Clark of Winchester and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held for Mr. Chaney at Dan River Baptist Church, Saturday, November 20, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Doug Gibson and the Rev. Rodney L. Chaney officiating.
