SCOTTSVILLE, Oct. 7 – Susie Kate Self Banton, of Scottsville, departed this life on Thursday, October 7, 2010. She was born on August 4, 1924 in Buckingham County, the daughter of the late John Holman Self and Bessie Winfrey Self.

She is survived by a son, Raymond Earl Banton and wife, Mona; daughter-in-law, Beulah J. Banton; two grandsons, Ray D. Banton and wife, Monica, and David L. Banton and wife, Donna; three granddaughters, Stephanie L. Baird and husband, Brandon, Angie C. Hunt and husband, Kenny and Terry Anderson and husband, Wayne; 12 great-grandchildren, Cody Banton, Anthony Banton, Amy Banton, Ashley Smith, Bryson Baird, Samantha Banton, Casey and Heather Hunt, Joey Hunt, Rebecca and Brian Thomas, and J.T. Anderson; two sisters, Annie Margaret Self and Bessie Holman Self Rush and husband, Gordon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Wood Banton in 2002, her eldest son, Glenn Carlton Banton Sr. in February 2010, and grandson, Glenn Carlton Banton Jr. in 1999.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 9, at 2 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, with interment in the Sharon Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 to 8, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont.
