SEPTEMBER 23 – Billie (Bula) Haynes Tunstall, 87, began her eternal life on Saturday, September 11, 2010. She was born April 17, 1923 in Cumberland County to the late Willie Lewis and Mollie Wright Haynes and adopted parents, Willie and Allie Oertel. She was educated at John Randolph High in Cumberland County and Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.

Ms. Tunstall leaves behind four sisters, Eliza O. Duncan, Minnie O. Taylor, Theresa O. Shelton and Joyce O. Ingle and two brothers, Willie Oertel Jr. and Robert Oertel. She was preceded in death her parents and husband, a brother, Walter H. Oertel and three sisters, Dorothy O. Lynn, Gladys O. Orange and Christine O. Frazier.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 25, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Saturday 1-2 p.m. before the service, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
