BUCKINGHAM CO., Jan. 13 – Wilmer Wright Wood Jr., 88, of Buckingham County, formerly of Leesville, South Carolina, died Thursday, January 8, 2009.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Hobson Wood; his parents, Wilmer W. Wood Sr. and Sarah Frances Alexander Wood; two brothers, Aubrey and Raymond Wood, and a sister, Marion Greene.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Miles, several nieces, nephews, and step-children.

Mr. Wood served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and had served as a deacon at Mt. Hebron Lutheran Church, Leesville, SC.

A graveside service was held Saturday, Jan. 10, at Washington Memorial Park, Richmond.

Memorial contributions are suggested for a charity of one's choice.

Thacker Brothers Funeral Home, Scottsville, served the family.
