CUMBERLAND, Dec. 10 – Virginia Ruth Griffin, 82, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, December 7, 2009 in Farmville. She was the widow of the Reverend Jess Griffin.

She is survived by daughters, Phyllis Ann Meinhard of Buckingham, and Patricia Ann Armes (Walter) of Cumberland; sons, James Allen Griffin of Cumberland, Billy Joe Griffin (Susan) of Richmond, and David L. Griffin (June) of Powhatan; 11 grand-children and 26 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Novella Berry of Elizabethton, TN.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday (today) at Prospect Gospel Tabernacle, Prospect, with interment in the church cemetery.
