APRIL 15 – Thomas Irving Barksdale, 91, of Farmville, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas and Lucy Booker Wilkerson Barksdale, and sister, Lucy Barksdale Raymond.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Emma Smith Barksdale and daughter, Lucy Barksdale Brightwell and husband, R.D. of Farmville; grand-daughters, Crystal Evans Gibson and husband, Nolan of Cullen and Kelly Jean Brightwell of Glen Allen; step-granddaughter, Amy Brightwell Gelle and husband, Cesar of Virginia Beach; great-grandchildren, Hunter Barksdale Gibson and Jacob Henry Gibson, and step-great-grandchildren, Alexis Dawn Gelle and Samantha Renee Gelle.

Mr. Barksdale was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and served in World War II.

A graveside service was held at Westview Cemetery on Monday, April 14.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Puckett Funeral Home, Farmville, was in charge of arrangements.
