JUNE 26 – On Thursday, June 12, 2008, Shelia Marie Monk was called home by her maker. She was born November 8, 1957 in White Plains, NY, to Nannie Redd Monk and the late Raymond Monk. She joined Bethel Baptist Church at an early age.
She always kept a smile on her face.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Nannie Monk of Meherrin; two brothers, Milton Monk Sr. of Meherrin and Clifton Monk of Yorkum, NY; a sister-in-law, Gail Monk of Meherrin; five nieces, Nakima, Shannon, Charde, Mariah and Hydeia; three nephews, Travis, Milton Jr. and Hykeam; nine aunts, Gladys, Margaret, Colene, Darlene, and Lela all of New York, Helena and Mamie of Virginia, Earnestine of North Carolina and Eleanore of New Jersey; four uncles, Charlie of Virginia, Stanley of New York, Reverend Patterson of North Carolina, and Frederick of Virginia; a host of cousins, relatives and friends; and a close friend, Laura Leak of Baltimore, MD.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 21 at Forest Baptist Church in Meherrin with the Rev. Dennis Blanding Jr., pastor, officiating.
Wilson Funeral Home, Keysville, served the family.
