DILLWYN, June 17 – Sarah Bessie Sharp Allen, 83, of Dillwyn, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008 at her home. She was born May 25, 1925 in Dillwyn.

Mrs. Allen was predeceased by her mother, Ann Thomas Sharp; father, James D. Sharp; husband, John D. Allen and infant son, Ronnie Lee Allen' two sisters, Livia S. Midkiff and Mary S. Meador; and three brothers, Warren, Howard and Edward Sharp.

She is survived by one daughter, Debbie A. Snoddy and husband, Dean; two sons, Bobby D. Allen and wife, Judi, and J.C. Wharam and wife, Peggy; six grandchildren, Donna A. Wood, John and Bronson Snoddy, Monica W. Banton, and Jason and Justin Wharam; five great-grandchildren, Madison Wood, Cody Banton, Hunter, Brookelyn and Sierra Wharam all of Dillwyn; sisters, Carrie S. Allen of Dillwyn and Virginia S. Thomas of Hampton.

A funeral service was held Saturday, June 14, at the Dunkum Funeral Home, with burial in Cedar Baptist Church Cemetery, Dillwyn.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dillwyn Volunteer Fire Department.
