BUCKINGHAM, Oct. 27 – Sadie Wootton Carroll, 87, of Buckingham, died Friday, October 23, 2009 at her home. She was born in Amherst County June 13, 1922, a daughter of the late Edward Hill Wootton and Mary Catherine Branch Wootton. She was the widow of Reese Edward Carroll Sr.

She is survived by a son, Reese E. Carroll Jr. and a special devoted daughter-in-law, Mary; two grandsons, Michael Carroll and Mark Carroll of Charlottesville; and a sister, Gertrue W. Carroll and husband, Percy of Buckingham. She was preceded in death by a son, Delmas A. Carroll, two brothers, George and Herman Wootton, and two sisters, Agnes W. Car-roll and Macie Wootton Taylor.

Mrs. Carroll was active for many years in the Mt. Vinco Extension Homemakers Club as well as many community activities. She was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church for 64 years where she served as treasurer for 27 years as well as many other offices.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Dunkum Funeral Home with interment in Buckingham Community Cemetery.
