BURKEVILLE, June 29 -Ruth Florence Jones Tolbert, 71, of Burkeville, died Monday, June 28, 2004 in Farmville.

She was born February 11, 1933 in Freeman, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Paul and Kate Kline Jones.

Mrs. Tolbert worked for 14 years at Holly Farms as a supervisor.

She is survived by her children, William David Tolbert of Baltimore, MD, Brenda Sue Pickett of Crimora, Clarence Cody Tolbert of Burkeville, Gall Tolbert Adcock of Richmond, John Mark Tolbert and Frankie Lee Tolbert both of Burkeville and Donald Earl Tolbert of Powhatan; her grandchildren, Eddie G. Pickett, Crystal G. Tremble, Jeffery S. Tolbert, Nicole D. Tolbert, Shawn M. Tolbert, Christopher M. Loving, Corey S. Abshire, Frankie L. Tolbert, Jr., Jacob W. Tolbert, Katherine L. Adcock, Josh Tolbert and Penny L. Tolbert; seven great grandchildren and her brothers and sisters. Billy Jones, Louise Jones, Ray Jones, Betty Robbinette, Wanda Jones and Nancy Perry. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Penny Diane Abshire.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Shorter Funeral Home, Farmvllle, with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
