Ruth D. Jones, 94 Of Dillwyn Dies November 11

DILLWYN, Nov. 13 – Ruth Dunkum Jones, 94, of Dillwyn, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008. She was born January 5, 1914 in Buckingham County, the daughter of the late William Elijah Dunkum and Rosa LeSueur Dunkum and widow of William Edward Jones.
She is survived by two daughters, Rose Marie J. Taylor and husband, Porter and Pamela J. Fox and husband, Larry all of Yorktown; son, James M. Jones and wife, Annie Ruth of Dillwyn; three sisters, Mildred Stanley of Glen Allen, Sarah Thomas and Pauline LeSueur both of Dillwyn; brother, Eldon Dunkum of Dillwyn; five grand-children, Douglas and Cicek Taylor, Donna and Margaret Sequeira, Lisa and Ted Flippen, Faith and Rob Grubbs, and Will and Jacguie Fox; six great-grandchildren, Lauren Taylor, Dylan Taylor, Thomas Flippen, Molly Sequeira, Juliaanna Grubbs and Cole Grubbs.
She was fondly called “Granny Ruth”, by family and friends. Especially in her church, all the members were her children. Her church was the center of her life. She also enjoyed her flower garden, which provided floral arrangements for her church and friends. She will be missed by all of us, who love her dearly.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Dunkum Funeral Home with interment in Rocky Mount United Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday (today) from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cemetery Fund or Building Fund of Rocky Mount United Methodist Cemetery.
