OCTOBER 29 – Roscoe Vanderbilt Watson “Roc” departed this life on Monday, October 12, 2009. He was born to Shirley Walton Watson and the late Willie Watson on September 11, 1954.
His religious affiliation was with the New Bethel Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 146.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Watson; two sons, Anthony and Daryl Watson, both of Keysville; mother and stepfather, Shirley and John Jennings; grandmother, Rena Walton; four sisters, Shirley Williams of Pamplin, Mary Ford, Pamela (James) Ross and Angela (Jeffrey) Foster, all of Meherrin; three brothers, Cecil (Diane) Watson, John Watson, and Jerry (Irma) Watson; four grandchildren, Da'heim, Sha'heim, Jazmia, and Kemarion Watson, all of Keysville; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; three godchildren, Corey Neal of Richmond, Anesha Watson of Hampton, and Takiasha Jones of Keysville; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were held October 17 at the New Bethel Baptist Church, Meherrin, with the Rev. Haney Thomas Jr., officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Wilson's Funeral Home, Keysville, was in charge of arrangements.
