BURKEVILLE, Sept. 3 – Ola B. Hopkins, of Burkeville, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at The Woodland in Farmville. She was born June 19, 1925 in Johnson City, TN to Bessie Mays Shepard Tyree and Raymond Shepard.

Mrs. Hopkins traveled extensively with her husband during his years in the Army. Her love for animals, especially cats, and flowers was evident to all who knew her. She was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church in Rice.

She is survived by cousins, Rebecca H. Whitus (Harvie) of Green Bay, Ralph W. Hemp of Buckingham, and Nellie D. Brannon of Norfolk; a number of second cousins and special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie J. (Jim) Hopkins.

Visitation will be held Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Puckett Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held Saturday at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice, at 11 a.m.
