Margaret Leveque, 91 Formerly Of Farmville Dies In Richmond

RICHMOND, Sept. 15 – Margaret Leveque, 91, formerly of Farmville, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2009, in Richmond.

Mrs. Leveque was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Leveque; daughter, Chrisann Leveque Seifried; sisters, Georgianna Steihler, Naomi Mason and Priscilla Pollard.

She is survived by her son, Frank Leveque and wife, Gloria of Richmond; five grandchildren, Frank Leveque II, Brian Leveque, Matthew Leveque, Samuel Bowles and Margaret Bowers; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Kaleb Bowers; four nephews, Richard Pollard and wife, Rosemary of Farmville, Scott Mason, Steve Mason, and Christian Mason; niece, Rachel Mason, and two great-nephews, Richard Pollard II and Erik Pollard.

Born in New York City on February 12, 1918, Margaret and Frank moved to Farmville in 1953. They owned and operated the Boxwood Tourist Court Motel and Restaurant located south of Farmville for many years. She was affectionately called “Mama Leveque” by many Hampden-Sydney students and townspeople.

After Frank's death, Mrs. Leveque worked for Gray's Drug Store, then People's, then CVS as the store changed over 20 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.

She was also a member of College Church, Hampden-Sydney, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday.
