MARCH 17 – Mamie Louise Hudgins Wood, 84, of Farmville, formerly of Arvonia, died Thursday, March 12, 2009. Born July 18, 1924, she was a daughter of the late William E. and Willie Sue Toney. She was also preceded in death by a son, James “Sweets” Hudgins and husbands, Glover Hudgins and Ledger Wood.

She is survived by three grandchildren, James Michael Hudgins and wife, Kelly of Fork Union, Sarah Elizabeth Walker and husband, Chris of Charlottesville, and Margaret Taylor-Collins and husband, Harold of Farmville; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was conducted Monday at the Arvon Baptist Church, Arvonia, with interment in the Fork Union Memorial Cemetery, Fork Union.

Colbert Funeral Home, Bremo Bluff, served the family.
