Loyd Parks White, 84 Of Farmville Dies Tuesday, August 5

AUGUST 7 Loyd Parks White, 84 of Farmville passed away Tuesday evening, August 5, 2008 in Farmville. He was born August 3, 1924 in Keysville. He was the son of the late Lee Parks and Verna Sherrill White.
Loyd served his country during WWII as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army Air Force. He flew many missions over Germany. He loved being a pilot and was very much an aviation enthusiast. Loyd graduated from Emporia State and was a teacher at Randolph Henry High School. He married Mattiemarie White on August 11, 1944. He was the owner and operator of the Floor Shop business in Farmville. He retired in 1992.
Loyd was a member of the Lions Club, American Legion and was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon.
He is survived by his wife, of nearly 64 years, his children, Loyd P. White Jr. of Grimstead and Patricia W. Huffman of Boone, NC; five grandchildren, Benjamin S. White of Austin, TX, Heather H. Mull and C. Judd Huffman both of Boone, NC, Amanda H. Rhyne of Alexandria, Egypt, and Avee E. Huffman of Boone, NC; two step-grandchildren, Steve J. Harvey of Arlington and Greg P. Harvey of Richmond; four great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren and a sister, Cleo White Edmonds. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Foy and Harlan S. White.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 10, at 2 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Rice.
Family will receive friends Saturday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Puckett Funeral Home.
