Longwood University officials met this week to finalize plans for The GAME (Greatest Athletics March Ever), scheduled for Sunday, August 22, for the first women's soccer home match this season against the University of Richmond at the Athletics Complex. Festivities for this special community event will begin with a picnic behind the Lankford Student Union beginning at 4 p.m., followed by a pep rally featuring new Longwood President Patrick Finnegan at 5 p.m., while President Finnegan and First Lady Joan Finnegan will lead a 6 p.m. march from campus up Fourth Street and Longwood Avenue to the soccer facility on Johnston Drive for the opening kickoff at 7 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to participate, and all those marching to the field will receive a commemorative Longwood Lancers scarf.
