Lawrence W. Styles, 83 Of Farmville Dies June 28

JULY 27 – Lawrence Watkins Styles, 83, of Farmville, died Monday, June 28, 2004 In Farmvllle.

He was born in Prince Edward County on March 21, 1921, a son of the late Peter and Bertha Ford Styles. He was the widower of Elizabeth A. Styles.

Mr. Styles retired from VEPCO In 1986 after 35 years of employment. He also was employed by Farmvllle United Methodist Church as their sexton working evening hours for 32 years until 1994. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Farmvllle.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara; son, Lawrence;

four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Calvin and Minnie Styles of Baltimore, MD, Dr. Twitty Styles and Dr. Constance Glasco Styles of Clifton Park, NJ and Mary Styles of Baltimore, MD; a devoted niece, Shirley S. Carr of Pamplin; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and two special friends, Louis Freeman and Sara Pruitt. He was preceded in death by five siblings, Loyd Styles (twin brother), Luther Styles, Arsenia Styles, Leora Brown and Florence Thompson.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 2 in the Minor B. Eggleston Chapel, Farmville, with interment in Odd Fellow Cemetery.

Carl U. Eggleston Funeral Establishment was in charge of arrangements.
