MAY 7 – Lacy Daniel Hicks, beloved father and brother, born September 19, 1943, son of the late Inez Olithea Hicks and Edward Amos Hicks, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 24, 2009.

He retired as AOC Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy in 1980 and the Newport News Shipbuilding in 2004. He was an avid antique car collector and loved to laugh and pass on loving stories of his childhood on his beautiful family farm.

He is survived by a brother, Cornell Hicks of Hanford, CA, as well as his daughters, Bree (Brenda Lee Hicks) Manser of Newburyport, MA, Tracey Lynn Hicks of Seal Cove, ME, and Patricia Ann (Hicks) Chadwick of Bacliff, TX; son, William (Hicks) Bailey of Dickinson, TX; nephew, Cornell J. Hicks Jr. and several grand and great-grandchildren.

Services were held on May 4, at Bland Reid Funeral Home, Farmville, followed by internment with Military Rites at First Rock Baptist Church, Prospect.
