Keith D. Whitlock, 70 Dies At Home In Keysville

KEYSVILLE, June 5 – Keith Donald Whitlock died peacefully Thursday, June 5, 2008 at home. He was born April 28, 1938 in Silverton, Oregon, the son of Mabel Maude Pendergrass and Leon Lewis Whitlock.

He graduated from Oregon City High in 1956 and enlisted in the U.S. Army and served 11 years. He moved to Virginia in 1972, where he shod horses and rode bulls on the rodeo circuit.

Mr. Whitlock married Mary Galletly in 1977 and worked for Howell Brothers until he and his wife began operating convenience stores. He retired from Meherrin Stop-N-Shop in 2006.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; brother, Kenneth (Mary) of Gordonsville; sister, Karel Shantin (Bill); children, Stacy Wood (Doug), Susan Greene (Bob), and Scott Young; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of Oregon.

A memorial service will be announced at a later time.
