COLORADO, Jan. 12 – Joyce Ann Thurston, 54, of Denver, CO departed this life on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at home in Denver. She was the daughter of Calvin D. and the late Lorrine Mary (Sims) Thurston.

Ms. Thurston is survived by her father, Calvin Duvor Thurston Sr.; son, Shima Terna; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth; two loving grandchildren, Dayquan and Kadedra; sister, Kim Thurston-Foster; two brothers, Calvin Duvor Thurston Jr. and Michael Anthony Thurston; brother-in-law, Curtis Foster; sisters-in-law, Jeri Thurston and Gabriel Thurston; five aunts, Shirley Webb (Clarence), Caroline Johnson (John) Lillian Smith (Marvin), Edna Sims, and Evelyn Sims; two great-aunts, Lillian Shelton and Neater Sims; two uncles, Howard Sims Jr (Dorothy) and Ruben Taylor Sims (Verta); her devoted friend, Gene Bernath, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her remains rest at Marian Gray Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held on January 9 at Tarwallet Baptist Church, Cumberland, with interment in the church cemetery.
