James O. Parker, 93 Of Farmville Dies December 23

DECEMBER 23 – James Oscar Parker, 93, of Farmville passed away Tuesday morning, December 23, 2008 in Farmville. He was born February 24, 1915 in Conway, North Carolina, the son of the late James Marcus and Agnes Flythe Parker. Mr. Parker was the husband of Helen Y. Parker.

He was the territory manager for Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company in Virginia and parts of North Carolina for 35 years. He was a long time member of the Rotary Club; a member of the Farmville Masonic Lodge and a very active member of Farmville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Y. Parker; daughters, Jane Parker Fitzhugh and husband, Berryman Jennings Fitzhugh Jr. and Agnes (Tootie) Parker Flythe and husband, Edwin Earnhardt Flythe Jr. all of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren, Edwin Earnhardt Flythe III, Todd Parker Flythe, Berryman Jennings Fitzhugh III and James Christian Fitzhugh and great-grandson, Berryman Jennings Fitzhugh IV. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ivan Parker.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 26, at 11 a.m. at Farmville United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Farmville United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
