James Abner Seay, 79 Business Owner Dies Tuesday

DILLWYN, July 13 – James Abner Seay, of Dlllwyn, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at the age of 79.

He was a native of Dlllwyn and was the principal owner of Seay Milling and Machinery Company of Dlllwyn, a company founded in 1909 and affiliated with Southern States since 1935.

Mr. Seay was one of the first members of the Buckingham Fire Department, having served as Chief during his affiliation with the Department. He was the oldest member of the Buckingham Lions Club, having held several offices including President. He was a member of the Buckingham County Industrial Development Authority and Whitehall Methodist Church In Dlllwyn. He was a veteran, having seen combat action In the South Pacific and was decorated with several medals Including the Purple Heart. He was generous in the support 0 many civic and community activities in the County, as well as the people of the area. He will be fondly remembered for his enjoyment of and his enthusiasm for life.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley R. Seay. He was preceded in death by his parents, Branch A. Seay and Myrtle S. Seay and four siblings, Evelyn S. Iobst, Thelma Seay, Christine S. Rosen and Paul D. Seay.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Dunkum Funeral Home, Dlllwyn.

Friends will be received Wednesday between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
