FLORIDA, Dec. 22 – James A. Scott, 78, of Brandon, Florida, died peacefully at home Saturday, December 19, 2009.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Scott; daughter, Katherine Scott of Riverview, FL; three sons, Charles Scott of Bronson, FL, Samuel Scott (Debbie) of Seffner, FL, and James Scott Jr. of Ormond Beach, FL; brother, Berman Scott of Chase City; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Born in 1931 in Saxe and a veteran of the Korean War, he was retired from a 30 year career with Chevron USA, was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Brandon and in his later years, enjoyed the many hours each week he spent in the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service was set for Tuesday at Hopewell Cemetery.

In memory of Mr. Scott's many acts of charity throughout his life, his family requests that you make a donation in his memory to the charity of your choice.

Stowers Funeral Home, Brandon, was in charge of arrangements.
