Henry “Paul” Oliver, 83 Farmville Native Dies In Richmond

RICHMOND, Sept. 24 – Henry “Paul” Oliver, 83, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Our Lady of Hope in Richmond. He was born in Prospect to Rueben H. and Bessie Moon Oliver on January 12, 1926. He was one of eight children.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ellen Lee Oliver; a daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Oliver; a son, Scott Oliver and wife, Lisa; four grandchildren, Christopher Bennett, Lauren Bennett, Matthew Oliver, and Morgan Oliver; three sisters, Sue Oliver Thompson, Florence Oliver Hix, and Glenna Oliver Hix.

Mr. Oliver was one of three first employees of Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company, where he worked for 40 years, his only job. He was Director of Operations. Next to God, family and many friends, his love was Virginia Tech, from which he graduated in 1950. He was also an avid golfer.

He was a longtime active member of Trinity United Methodist Church where there was a memorial service on Wednesday. The burial was private.
