George E. Johnson, 84 Dies May 10 At His Home In NC

NORTH CAROLINA, May 12 – George Edward Johnson, 84, of Supply, NC died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at his home.

Mr. Johnson was born May 18, 1924 in Prince Edward County, to the late Clifton C. and Nannie Dalton Johnson. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war was over he came home to play music at the Old Dominion Barn Dance. He retired from Dupont in 1985 to pursue his love of the beach and fishing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was predeceased by a grandson, Christopher S. Wood; a sister, Annie Ruth Thomas; and a son-in-law, Garland Wood.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl C. Johnson; three daughters, Bonnie J. Spurlock and husband, Jerry, Deborah J. Wood, and Sherry J. Sisk and husband, Donald Sisk Sr.; a son, George E. Johnson Jr. and wife, Melody; three grandchildren, Angela W. Gregory, Donald Sisk Jr., and April V. Spurlock; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew Dylan Sisk, Dalton Gene Sisk, and Chelsey Elizabeth Gregory.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, (today) from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Morrissette Funeral Home, Richmond.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with interment in the Dale Memorial Park, Richmond.
