Funeral Service To Be Held Wednesday For Maudie S. Hamlett, 92

VIRGINIA BEACH, Feb. 16 – Maudie Smith Hamlett, 92, of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 14, 2010.

She was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, great-grandmother, and a devout Christian.

She was a charter member of Bow Creek Presbyterian Church. After many years, she returned to school and received a B.S. Degree from Old Dominion University in 1970.

She was born in Cabot, Arkansas and was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth B. Hamlett.

Mrs. Hamlett is survived by a daughter, Elaine Baker and husband, Ron; daughter, Ruthanne Rabeau and husband, David; grandchildren, Shannon Rabeau, Tracy Main and husband, Joe, Bryan Baker and wife, Jamie, and great-grandchildren, Mason and Carson Main.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday at Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home from 1-2 p.m. where funeral services will be conducted in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at College Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Hampden-Sydney.

Remembrances may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association or College Church, Hampden-Sydney.

Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home, Farmville, is in charge of arrangements.
