Funeral Service Set Friday For Woodrow T. Cook, 91

JANUARY 20 – Woodrow T. Cook, 91, of Buckingham County, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004,

He was born October 18, 1912, a son of the late Martin L. Cook and Edna O'Brien Cook. He married Elizabeth Stokes Cook of Green Bay on August 2, 1932. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by four children, Lois Carter and husband, Bill of Burkeville, Ann Metcalfe of Virginia Beach, Edward Cook and wife, Ann of Dillwyn and Wayne Cook and wife, Tonya of Richmond; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cook was a U.S. Mall carrier for 12 years and retired November 2, 1977 from the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation after 25 years of service. He was a life member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church and Chairman of the Board of Deacons for 35 years and treasurer for 48 years. Mr. Cook was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 242 In Buckingham where he was raised to a Master Mason on February 3, 1968.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Shorter Funeral Home, Farmvllle.
