Funeral Service For James “Pete” Apperson To Be Held Friday

BUCKINGHAM CO., March 2 – James L. (Pete) Apperson Jr. passed peacefully at his farm in Buckingham County on Monday, March 1, 2010.

He is survived by his wife, Florence (Flo) Anne Apperson; his daughters and their husbands, Babette Anne Apperson and Richard Floyd of Lynchburg, and Nanette Anne Apperson and Don Williamson of Bethesda, MD; granddaughter and husband, Laura Anne and Jason Cain; and great-granddaughters, Taylor Anne and Kaitlyn Michelle.

He served in the Marine Corps in WWII and was an active member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church.

Memorial donations may be made to Martha Jefferson Hospital Cancer Unit, 459 Locust Ave., Charlottesville, VA 22901; and Rocky Mount United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Shirley Wooten, Treasurer, 404 Thomas Rd., Dillwyn, VA 23936.

Family will receive friends Thursday evening, March 4, 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at Dunkum Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church in Dillwyn with interment in the church cemetery.

Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, is in charge of arrangements.
