ROANOKE, Sept. 22 – Fernie Steven Dixon Jr., 81, of Roanoke and formerly of Buckingham died on Sunday, September 20, 2009. He was born August 17, 1928 in Florida, the son of the late Fernie Steven Dixon Sr. and Lina Jones Dixon.

He is survived by his wife, Majorie Rush Dixon; children, Linda Lucy, James S. Dixon, Wanda Bartley, Victor Dixon, Victoria Smith, Sue Zumbro, Lewis W. Campbell, Donnie G. Campbell and Lisa C. Campbell; brother, Boston Dixon; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. He left behind his beloved dogs and very special friends Leon and Margaret Frost. He was preceded in death by a grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home with interment in the Buckingham Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
