Emma B. Meanley, 89 Of Cumberland Dies November 12

CUMBERLAND, Nov. 12 – Emma Brown Meanley, 89, of Cumberland, died on Thursday, November 12, 2009. She was born February 2, 1920 to the late James Marvin and Elizabeth Nena Brown in Cumberland County.

She was a lifelong member of Antioch United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women's Conference. She worked for W.C. Newman Concrete Co. for over 20 years.

Mrs. Meanley was survived by a daughter, Jean N. Carwile of Pamplin; grandsons, Michael Carwile Sr. of Appomattox and Stephen Carwile and Karen of Farmville; great-grandchildren, Mellissa Carwile and Michael Carwile Jr., both of Appomattox, Cydni Carwile of Buckingham, Harrison Stewart, Prescott Stewart, and Emma Noelani Carwile all of Farmville; sister, Marian B. Rich of Farmville; two nieces, Nena Williams and husband, Donald of Midlothian and Virginia Griffith of New Jersey; many other great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Patterson Meanley III and sister, Edith Brown Taylor.

Graveside services from Westview Cemetery will be on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home, Farmville, is in charge of arrangements.
