NEW CANTON, Jan. 1 – Edith Elnora Perkins James, 72, of New Canton, passed away in the afternoon on Thursday, December 25, 2008.

She is survived by a daughter, Janice Johnson of New Canton, and a son, Bernard James Jr. (Sondra) of Newport News; two grandsons, William Olando Johnson (Michelle) and LaMar James; a granddaughter, Kandi James; and two great-granddaughters, Kyra and Kimora Johnson.

Public viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, January 2, at Thomasson Funeral Home, Fork Union Chapel, Fork Union.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, at Third Liberty Baptist Church, New Canton.

The family will receive friends at the home of the deceased after the interment.
