Early E. Rakes, 89 Retired Farmer Dies Wednesday

MEHERRIN, July 15 – Early Edward Rakes, 89, of Meherrin, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004.
He was born in Patrick County on October 11, 1914 to the late James C. and Rosa A. Rakes.
Mr. Rakes was a veteran of World War II, a retired farmer and mill worker and a member and Deacon of Meherrin Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louetta Stanley Rakes; a daughter, Linda Bolan and husband. Jack of Meherrin; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Rakes of Keysvllle; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David Earl Rakes.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Browning Funeral Home, Keysville, with interment in Union Grove Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 8 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
