E. “Jeannie” Culpepper, 93 Of Richmond Dies Sun., August 31

RICHMOND, Sept. 2 – Eugenia “Jeannie” Sheffield Culpepper, 93, of Richmond, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 31, 2008. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Leroy Culpepper.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Gibbs and husband, Forest, Barbara Townsend and husband, Lynn, and her special daughter and constant companion, Carolyn Lee; seven grandchildren, Forest Gibbs IV and wife, Martha, Christian Culpepper Gibbs, Jennifer Gibbs, Tiffany T. Taliaferro and husband, Foster, Kimberly T. Stansell and husband, Scott, and Sherry T. Allaire and husband, Tim, and Rhett Town-send; 10 great-grandchildren, Lucas Gibbs, Nicholas Gibbs, Alexis Gibbs, Wyatt Taliaferro, Ashlyn Taliaferro, Alyssa Taliaferro, Jacob Leroy Stansell, Sarah Katherine Stansell, James Patrick Stansell and William Townsend Allaire; and a sister, Grace Williams of Pamplin.

Mrs. Culpepper was born in Farmville, the daughter of Charles Richard Sheffield and Pattie Budd Sheffield. She moved to Richmond when she married Leroy. Together they founded J.L. Culpepper & Co. Inc. J.L. Culpepper Inc.-Richmond Restaurant Service is still a family-owned business today in Ashland. She was a member of River Road Presbyterian Church, the Country Club of Virginia and the Tuckahoe Women's Club.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at River Road Presbyterian Church, 8960 River Rd., with private interment.
