SEPTEMBER 2 – Dorothy Wilkerson Stanley, 83, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004 in Midlothian.

She was born November 4, 1920 in Farmville, a daughter of the late Stephen Arnes and Amanda Ellie Walden Wilkerson. She was preceded in death by a sister. Hazel Bondourant and a brother, Stephen Wilkerson.

Mrs. Stanley was a retired shoe factory employee.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin Gentry Stanley of Richmond where they made their home for a number of years after leaving Farmville; a daughter, Joyce S. Addison; a son and daughter-in-law, Melvin G. Stanley, Jr. and Diane all of Richmond; three sisters, Jessie Alien, Ruby Covington and Katherine Page all of Farmville;three sisters-in-law, Virginia Dileronzo of Monroe, GA, Margaret Carter of Farmville and Anne Berry of Hampden-Sydney; two grandchildren, Shannon P. Jenkins and David A. Peregoy, Jr. both of Richmond.

Graveside services were held 11 a.m. today (Thursday) in Trinity Memorial Gardens.

Remembrances may be made to the Cancer Research Unit at Johnston-Willis Hospital, Richmond.

Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home, Farmville, was in charge of arrangements.
