David A. Anstine, 78 Formerly Of Rice Dies June 17

MINERAL, June 25 – David A. Anstine, 78, of Mineral, formerly of Rice, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009.

He was born March 26, 1931 in Washington D. C., the son of the late Hamond N. and Ruth E. Fisher Anstine. Mr. Anstine served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was involved with many veteran organizations, as well as volunteering at the V.A. in Richmond.

He is survived by his sister, Mildred Faulkner and husband, Hugh of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Alva Anstine of Mineral and Ellen Anstine of Lynchburg; three step-children in Georgia; nieces and nephews, Frederick Doe and wife, Barbara of New Mexico, Victoria Dumm of California, Stephen Doe and wife, Joan of Fredericksburg, Ruth Waller of Mineral, Paul Anstine and wife, Gayle of New York, Lynn McConnell of Texas, Alan Anstine and wife, Lynn of Baise, Sharon MacDonald and husband, Bill of Mineral, Donna Gray, Dianne Deal, Richard Anstine, and Ann Johnson and husband, Bill all of Florida, Susan Dana of Ashburn, Nick Anstine and wife, Judy of Springfield, Mary Ellen Gleason of Carrsville and Bill Anstine of Lynchburg; numerous great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Anstine, one sister, two brothers and a brother-in-law.

A funeral service will be held Monday, June 29, at 12:30 p.m. at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home with interment to follow at 2 p.m. in Virginia Veteran's Cemetery at Amelia. Family will receive friends Monday 11-12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
