Corp. Larry Carson, 66 US Army Vet And US Coast Guard, Dies

SAXE, April 30 – Corporal Larry Nolan Carson, 66, of Saxe, formerly of Norfolk, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, following a severe accident.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and the U. S. Coast Guard Reserve. He served 27 years in the Norfolk Police Division as a K-9 officer, detective, training officer, and commanding officer of the helicopter patrol. He achieved certificates for certified flight instructor.

Mr. Carson was the son of Billie Jean Yates Carson and the late Russell Nolan Carson.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jannette Lavinder Carson; two sons, Richard and Leonard; daughter, Dianna; sister, Carol Walters of Raleigh, five grandchildren, and many beloved relatives and friends.

Larry and Jan moved to Saxe a year ago and were pleasantly surprised by a warm and helpful welcome from the citizens of this large, loving community.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at Madisonville Presbyterian Church with interment in the church cemetery.

Family will receive friends Friday evening 6-7 p.m. at the Madisonville Presbyterian Church.

The family suggests donations be made to Southall Methodist Church in Saxe, Madisonville Presbyterian Church, or simply pass on a kindness received by you.
