Cline R. King, 93 Buried Wednesday In Bedford

BEDFORD, Oct. 14 – Mr. Cline R. King, 93, formerly of Bedford and Roanoke, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004, in Marietta, GA. He was the widower of Bettie W. King of Farmville, and a teacher of Bedford County Schools for many years.

Mr. King was most recently a member of Huntington Court United Methodist Church in Roanoke. He had been a longtime member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Bedford where he served on the administrative board, finance committee and was president of the Men's Club.

Mr. King retired from Sam Moore Furniture Co., Bedford, in 1974 after 28 years of employment at both Christiansburg and Bedford Plants as purchasing agent. He graduated from Emory & Henry College and attended New York University for two summer sessions. He taught school at Christiansburg High School, was employed one year with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., and two years with Hercules Power Co. He then volunteered in the US Navy, in which he served four years as a Lieutenant Senior Grade with duties aboard ship in both the Atlantic and South Pacific theatres of World War II.

Mr. Cline leaves two brothers, his twin, Clyde W. King of Marietta, GA, and Elbert King of Elizabeth, NJ; two sisters. Pearl Kehoe of Ft. Plantation, FL and Barbara Blount of Woodstock;and several nephews and nieces.
